In the spring of 2007, a group of like-minded individuals met to discuss ideas to bring people of different ethnicities and religions together. We asked ourselves questions like how can we bring people together to appreciate each others differences and unique backgrounds?

Immediately, the vehicle that came to our minds was Culture. Culture has always had a special place in humanity throughout history. Culture’s liveliness and vibrancy appeals to our senses, aspiring us to appreciate each other in a positive manner. We felt if you learn and accept a person's heritage (neighbor, friend, co-worker, teacher, etc),you can understand him or her better. Acceptance and understanding inevitably leads to harmony. Hence, the development of SCD began.

Goals of SCD:

We aim to present different cultural art forms:

      - music
      - dance
      - fashion
      - visual arts

We want to focus on encouraging youth participation. We strongly believe that the future is in the hands of the next generation.
